Pricing Your Items
One of the biggest perks to consigning is that YOU SET YOUR OWN PRICES. You have complete control over what the price is and also whether your items will be sold at half price on the last day of the sale. With that said, though, everything should be PRICED TO SELL. You want it out of your house for good, so DON’T OVERPRICE!
PRO TIP: THINK, “WOULD I BUY THIS ITEM, AT THIS PRICE, IF I WERE TO WALK INTO THE SALE TODAY?”
There will be thousands of items on the sales floor—items that are priced most competitively are most likely to sell.
A few more tips to consider when pricing your items:
- Price your items as if you were the buyer, not the seller.
Is this a price you would be excited to pay if you found it at the sale? - Remember that the goal is to SELL your items! DO NOT overprice! Price items competitively so you can make some money rather than have to take it back home with you when the sale is over.
- We highly recommend marking all of your items, especially clothing, to be discounted on Half Price Day. This will dramatically increase their likelihood of selling.
Consignors who opt to include items in the half price sale tend to sell MORE items and make MORE money because shoppers are looking for excellent deals at the end of the sale! - A good rule of thumb is to price items at 60-80% off the retail price.
The minimum price is $5.00 per item. Prices may be set in $.50 increments, and we recommend always adding a $.50 to your prices because over the course of your total inventory, those $.50 add up for you without deterring shoppers.
If you opt to donate an item, it will automatically be marked for discount on the 1/2 price day.
UNSOLD ITEMS:
Any unsold items left after the designated pick up time will be donated to one of our local charity partners.
